According to an interview published by the trade publication Automotive News, Japanese automaker Nissan is reportedly about to unveil a new electric vehicle platform, which could serve approximately five models, including a pickup truck.

According to Ponz Pandikuthira, Vice President of Product Planning for Nissan Americas, these would be five electric vehicles in compact or other configurations. These models would be powered by a new generation of more efficient electric motors, as well as by lithium-ion batteries that are more affordable and capable of fast charging.

However, this platform is not designed for the solid-state battery technology that Nissan hopes to bring to market in 2028. Production of the vehicles is expected to take place at Nissan’s Canton plant in Mississippi, starting with SUVs under the Nissan and Infiniti brands.
