American manufacturer Car-O-Liner now offers the AW-Tong accessory for its CTR9 resistance spot welder, designed for collision repair shops.
Equipped with a water-cooling system and fully automatic operation, the AW-Tong uses the same settings as the CTR9 and is fully compatible with the system. This allows shops to add the tool to their existing welding equipment without having to change their workflow.
In fully automatic mode, the AW-Tong first calibrates itself to ensure the system is ready to weld. Once the tool is positioned on the work area, it automatically measures material thickness and type, determines the appropriate welding parameters, and then displays the welding results directly on the CTR9 control unit.
The AW-Tong also differs from the CTR9's C-arms in the orientation of its electrodes, allowing it to reach certain areas that are more difficult to access.
The CTR9 itself is equipped with a lightweight transformer gun featuring a 355-degree rotating handle and an ergonomic design. Independent adjustments for the welding arm and handle allow technicians to position the electrode properly while maintaining a comfortable grip during the job.
