Not so long ago, South Korean tire manufacturer Hankook expressed its ambition to become one of the world's leading players in the tire industry. The company subsequently expanded into several market segments. However, Hankook also recognized the importance of getting involved in motorsports, just as legendary brands such as Michelin, Goodyear, Firestone and others had done in the past. Hankook has notably become the official tire supplier of the World Rally Championship, after supplying tires for the Formula E World Championship. But now, Hankook is taking its involvement even further. The company recently announced its participation in additional forms of motorsport.
Starting in 2027, Hankook Tire will become the official and exclusive competition tire supplier for four racing series operated by Racing America. The agreement will run from 2027 through 2031 and will include not only tires, but also technical and engineering support, trackside services and joint marketing initiatives.
To begin with, Hankook will support the Trans Am Series, an American road racing championship that will make a stop at the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières, as well as International GT, a sports car racing series. Hankook will also be involved in Formula Regional Americas and the Formula 4 United States Championship (F4 U.S.). It's worth noting that the company has already supported these two championships since 2019. In addition, Hankook maintains partnerships with off-road racing events such as King of the Hammers.
The company emphasizes that its motorsports programs provide valuable information gathered from racing to the engineering teams responsible for developing its consumer tire lines, including the Dynapro and iON series.
