Two New Nissan Pathfinder Models?

The arrival of new president Yvan Espinoza at the helm of Japanese automaker Nissan seems to have energized the company’s decision-makers. Several reports and rumors suggest that Nissan is in the process of revising its sales strategy.

Among the scenarios being discussed, the current Pathfinder SUV, built on a front-wheel-drive platform, could be carried over with a few updates. At the same time, Nissan is reportedly considering launching a more rugged version of the Pathfinder, this one based on a body-on-frame platform.

This more expensive model would target off-road enthusiasts, a segment that’s particularly popular in the southwestern United States. Its market launch is expected as early as 2029.

We should also keep an eye on the possible return of the midsize Xterra SUV, which would also ride on a body-on-frame platform. The two new models could even share certain styling similarities.
