The website Ford Authority reports serious rumors suggesting that major American automaker Ford is preparing a new version of a large Lincoln SUV built on a body-on-frame platform, aimed at competing with the Land Rover Range Rover and Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon.
The vehicle, expected to launch around 2029-2030, would be derived from the Bronco family and ride on the same T6 platform, but with on-road manners more focused on comfort than off-road capability.
No name has been confirmed yet, but Ford Authority suggests Ford could call it the Lincoln Navigator Sport, in reference to the Range Rover Sport.
Meanwhile, Ford Authority is also questioning whether this new vehicle might be better based on the European Ford Everest, a model not marketed in North America, whose unibody construction could prove more suitable.
