Volkswagen Reveals the Silhouette of the Next Golf

Everything suggests that fans of Volkswagen’s small Golf are missing the model, whose current production has been suspended while awaiting the arrival of its next generation.

So far, very little information has leaked from the German automaker. However, employees at Volkswagen’s Wolfsburg plant in Germany recently got a preview of the silhouette of the next generation of this popular car.

However, there’s a catch: this ninth generation is expected to be fully electric. The current Golf available in North America is offered only in its performance R or sporty GTI versions.

Production of gasoline-powered Golf models is expected to move to Mexico next year, which would free up space in Wolfsburg for the manufacturing of the new fully electric Golf models, based on a platform specifically developed for that purpose.

The car could then be called the ID Golf.
