Ford Inspects Its New Engines

The growing issue of defective engines in new vehicles, regardless of brand, has prompted Ford to implement a thorough inspection process for some of its new engines, selected at random from assembly lines, in order to disassemble them and detect potential problems. At the same time, the automaker is reviewing its suppliers to prevent those with poor quality records from remaining in its supply chain.

In addition, Ford is taking a closer look at its own excessive recall record in an effort to address potential issues before products reach the market. According to a report in Road & Track, each Ford engine plant must now select one engine per day from the assembly line and tear it down, whereas in the past, this practice was carried out only every 90 days… if necessary. Already in place at some plants, the new procedure is helping Ford resolve several issues and improve its reputation for quality and reliability.
