For anyone with even a passing interest in the world of hot rods and high-performance engines, the passing of Ed Iskenderian — affectionately known as Isky — won’t go unnoticed.
Born in 1921, Isky founded his small company, Isky Racing Cams, in 1946. He quickly built a strong reputation that would lead him, in 1963, to help create the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA), an organization that would go on to play a major role in the performance automotive industry.
Among the many innovations that marked his career were the first camshafts designed for hydraulic lifters, high-performance roller lifters, and the Vasco Jet 1000 valve springs. Known as “The Camfather,” Ed Iskenderian passed away at the age of 104.
