As reported this week in the specialized publication Automotive News, Swedish automaker Volvo is preparing to fully leverage the potential of its U.S. plant, which has been operating for seven years. Volvo Cars plans to double the number of models built there, increasing from two to four.

Production of the XC60 SUV will begin at the site by late 2026. This will be followed by a “next-generation hybrid,” according to a recent statement from the automaker, though the vehicle has not yet been named. Industry experts believe it could be the new XC90, currently Volvo’s second-best-selling model in the U.S. No other upcoming models were specified.
