This is a vehicle with a long history. The Grand Caravan name has always resonated well in Canada, although it briefly disappeared. Now it’s back—sold exclusively under the Chrysler badge (not Dodge) and positioned as a more modest alternative to the Pacifica from which it’s derived.
My test vehicle was the SXT trim, the only version available. Powered by the venerable Pentastar V6, this Grand Caravan features Stow & Go second-row seats, which prevent the use of all-wheel drive (there’s simply no room for the central mechanical components), leaving it as a front-wheel-drive model. The sole engine option is the well-known 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 producing 287 hp and 262 lb-ft of torque, paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission—more than sufficient for everyday needs.
The Grand Caravan stands out with its specific trim accents. During testing, it proved to be quieter and more solidly built than ever. The dashboard now comes with a larger GPS screen, and the cabin finish is noticeably more refined. With seating for seven, the Grand Caravan is proudly built in Windsor, Canada.
