Tesla Cybertruck: Affordable Version Dropped, Prices Skyrocket

SkyrocketWhen first unveiled in 2019, Tesla announced that the Cybertruck would start at $39,900 USD (InsideHook). Six years later, that entry-level model has disappeared. The starting price now sits around $69,990 USD, more than double the original promise (LeBlogAuto).

Today, the lineup only includes more expensive versions: the All-Wheel Drive is listed at about $99,990 USD, while the top-tier Cyberbeast reaches $119,990 USD (Reuters). A simpler Rear-Wheel Drive option, once expected at roughly $61,000 USD, has been removed from Tesla’s configurator (Automotive World).

Sales figures reflect this shift. In Q1 2025, Tesla delivered about 6,406 Cybertrucks in the U.S., down from the previous quarter (Forbes). The resale market is also showing early weakness: some “Founder Series” editions, initially sold between $100,000 and $120,000 USD, are already facing a 35% depreciation after just 10,000 km (Numerama).

These developments highlight a shift toward a premium positioning, moving the Cybertruck away from Tesla’s original vision of an affordable electric pickup.
