Mercedes-AMG has once again pushed the boundaries of automotive performance with the CONCEPT AMG GT XX, a fully electric prototype built on the upcoming AMG.EA platform. During an extreme endurance run at the Nardò high-speed test track in Italy, the car set 25 world records, proving the groundbreaking capabilities of its drivetrain.

Among its achievements, the CONCEPT AMG GT XX shattered the record for the longest distance covered by an EV in 24 hours with 5,479 km—an impressive 1,518 km more than the previous record. In an even more ambitious challenge called “Around the world in eight days”, the car completed the equivalent of Earth’s circumference (40,075 km) in just 7 days, 13 hours, and 24 minutes, well ahead of its eight-day target. Throughout the test, two identical vehicles ran simultaneously, averaging 300 km/h and stopping only to recharge at a rate of 850 kW, far exceeding today’s charging infrastructure.

This grueling test validated AMG’s next-generation all-electric powertrain: three axial-flux motors and a direct liquid-cooled battery, derived from Formula 1® expertise. The system delivers more than 1,360 horsepower and enables ultra-fast charging, adding 400 km of range in just five minutes.

“Our mission is to redefine performance standards with groundbreaking technologies. With the CONCEPT AMG GT XX, we are entering a new dimension – this time with fully electric drive,” said Markus Schäfer, Chief Technology Officer at Mercedes-Benz Group AG.
