Each major manufacturer (or almost) also has a major mid-range brand that markets quality winter tires which, in many cases, are less technologically advanced but still highly effective and reliable. For example, Michelin owns the BFGoodrich brand, which offers T/A KSI winter tires, while Bridgestone continues to provide the American-origin Firestone, which markets the affordable Winterforce line. It's worth noting that Goodyear has recently acquired the American manufacturer Cooper, which makes tires under its own name but also for several other brands tied to automotive retailers. However, we'll consider these tires as belonging to the third, less advanced category. As for Nokian, it offers Nordman tires, which are essentially previous-generation Hakkapeliitta models adapted for a less affluent market. At Continental, you'll find the General Tire Altimax, while Hankook's recent Laufenn brand is starting to make a name for itself with its excellent I-Fit Ice.
The Japanese brand Falken also offers good Winterpeak and EuroWinter products.
