American automaker General Motors has just announced that it’ll create a successor to its Buick Envision, the most popular Chinese-built vehicle in the United States. However, it’ll be assembled at the American plant in Kansas, starting in 2028. Moreover, this so-called Fairfax Assembly plant will also assemble the Chevrolet Equinox.
The goal of this repatriation is to reduce the costs generated by the tariffs imposed by U.S. President Donald Trump on cars imported from China. Buick will invest US$4 billion in three of its plants, including the one in Fairfax. The brand sold 41,924 Envisions in the United States in 2025, a loss of 11% compared to the previous year.
