General Motors to replace over 700,000 engines

After the saga that led Japanese automaker Toyota to replace some 100,000 V6 engines in its Tundra, Sequoia and other trucks, it is now General Motors’ turn to undertake a similar action: the major American automaker is set to replace over 700,000 V8 engines in its full-size pickups and SUVs, including the Chevrolet Silverado, Suburban and Tahoe, the GMC Sierra, Yukon and Yukon XL, and the Cadillac Escalade. The 6.2-litre gasoline V8, produced between March 1, 2021, and May 31, 2024, is the one in question, with more than 28,000 owners of the affected vehicles having already filed complaints.

It appears that manufacturing defects in the crankshaft, connecting rods and bearings, supplied by American Axle & Manufacturing and Questum Macimex, are behind these failures.
