Vinfast closing some retail locations

According to a recent article in the highly reliable publication Automotive News, Vietnamese automaker VinFast is reportedly about to shut down half of its Canadian showrooms in order to “reassess its resources and improve long-term performance.”

Currently, VinFast operates about ten corporate stores across Canada: four in Ontario, and three each in Quebec and British Columbia. The company plans to maintain a presence in each of these provinces but will close its showrooms in Vancouver, Toronto, and Laval, along with two other yet-to-be-determined locations. However, it has not specified so far how many employees will be laid off.

In addition to the end of government incentives, VinFast has also faced a lack of consumer interest in electric vehicles.
