Car capsule Ford F-150 Hybrid 2025

It's hard to talk about vehicle fleets without mentioning the inevitable Ford F-150 pickup, the best-selling vehicle in the country. With around a dozen different versions available (not counting the electric Lightnings or the more robust F-Series Super Duty models from F-250 to F-750), Ford recently provided me with one of the most representative trims: an F-150 SuperCrew with four doors and four-wheel drive.
To showcase its commitment to fuel efficiency, the manufacturer also included the Hybrid option. That means the F-150 you see here is powered by a turbocharged EcoBoost V6 engine paired with an electric motor, delivering a combined output of 430 horsepower. Power is sent to the wheels through a standard 10-speed automatic transmission and an electronic transfer case, which includes an Auto 4x4 mode, particularly handy in our winter climate, and the truck was equipped with proper winter tires.
Multiple bed lengths are offered on the F-150, but the test vehicle came with the 5.5-foot bed and Ford’s new modular tailgate. This tailgate opens conventionally, or swings open like a car door, making it easier to access cargo near the cab.
As expected, the cabin is exceptionally spacious, with generous rear seating that accommodates passengers of all sizes. The rear seats also fold up to create a large, flat loading area, making this truck both utilitarian and road-trip friendly.
This particular F-150 has a maximum towing capacity of 12,700 pounds, and during winter testing, it achieved an impressive observed fuel consumption of 4.9 L/100 km. The total price of the vehicle shown is $99,460, including freight and preparation (but excluding local taxes).
