Test drive capsule: ACURA RDX 2025

Although the sporty compact SUV RDX has retained the same silhouette for several years, Acura is giving it some welcome updates for 2025, notably a redesigned grille and modernized headlights. Loosely inspired by Honda’s very popular CR-V, the RDX still features a distinctive design true to Acura’s visual identity.
Under the hood is a robust 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 272 horsepower, paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel-drive system. This four-door SUV comfortably seats four adults, or five if the rear passengers are children.
The cabin stands out for its generous space, refined finish, and ergonomic layout. The trunk, already practical, becomes even more functional once the rear seatbacks are folded down.
The test model, graciously provided by Honda Canada, was priced at $65 356 (including freight and PDI, excluding taxes). The driving experience was highly enjoyable, with a predictable and reassuring on-road feel. In winter conditions, the average fuel consumption was 10.8 L/100 km. While premium fuel is recommended for optimal performance, the vehicle runs smoothly on regular gasoline. However, its towing capacity remains modest for its category, limited to 1500 lb.
