Although Ford had already announced back in 2017 that a hybrid version of the Mustang V8 was in the works, this auto never made it to the market. At the time, there was even talk of a US$700 million investment at its Flat Rock Assembly Plant in Michigan, where the car would have been assembled as early as 2020.
This time, however, according to the specialized publication Ford Authority, highly reliable sources report that a prototype is already being tested under the code name S650E. In addition, the Blue Oval has already announced its plan to introduce hybrid powertrains across all Ford Blue internal-combustion vehicles by 2030.
The Mustang is part of this group, and Ford President Jim Farley has already declared that as long as there are Mustangs, there will be V8s.
