While several competing automakers have already announced pauses in their fully electric programs, Italian manufacturer Alfa Romeo has revealed that it will delay its transition to an all-electric lineup. Initially planned for 2025, the full electrification shift and the move to electric-only production by 2030 have now been postponed. The company will instead adopt a new “multi-energy” strategy.
As a result, new models from the brand are not expected before the end of 2027. The main reason behind this delay is the cancellation of the fully electric versions of the Giulia sedan and Stelvio SUV. Their successors, built on Fiat Chrysler-derived platforms, will instead feature hybrid powertrains combining battery technology with internal combustion engines.
