For several years now, a potential solution to the main challenges facing electric vehicles has been seen in solid-state battery technology. These batteries present high energy density in a compact package.

Among the automakers interested in this technology, Ford can be counted on. The company has invested in firms such as Solid Power as well as in its major partner, SK On.

SK On, a South Korean company, operates a pilot plant for solid-state batteries and aims to bring this technology to market by 2029. The company is targeting the commercialization of high energy density batteries of 800 Wh/L, with the goal of reaching 1,000 Wh/L.
