Pirelli has just announced a US$1.2-billion investment to expand its plant in Georgia. The Italian tire manufacturer will carry out the project in two phases. The first will introduce next-generation robotics equipment, while the second will rely on a traditional manufacturing process. The expansion is expected to create approximately 1,000 jobs over the next several years.
Although headquartered in Italy, Pirelli established its U.S. headquarters and North American manufacturing operations in Rome, Georgia, in 2002. The company currently employs 234 people in the state, working in manufacturing, innovation and administrative roles. Pirelli considers the United States one of its most important markets, offering significant opportunities for growth. The tiremaker expects the bulk of hiring to begin in 2029, with the expanded facility projected to be fully operational by 2033.
