Continental will focus on tires

German giant Continental recently confirmed its intention to sell its ContiTech division, specialized in plastics and rubber components. This sale reflects Continental’s decision to focus exclusively on the tire sector.

The company has been considering this strategic shift for more than a year, after recognizing that the auto parts market has become more fragile due to the electrification of the automotive industry. In 2015, Continental acquired Veyance Technologies from the American Carlisle Group, subsequently renaming it ContiTech—the division it now plans to sell. Continental is also the owner of General Tire in the United States.
