If you work in the world of automatic transmissions, you are probably familiar with some of the models produced by American automaker Ford, including the 8FM and 8F57, both eight-speed automatic transmissions found in popular vehicles such as the Maverick and Bronco Sport.
You are also likely familiar with the 10R80, which Ford uses in many vehicles, including the Bronco, Ranger, Explorer, F-150, Super Duty, Expedition, Transit, Aviator, and Navigator.
However, while the future of those transmissions appears secure, the venerable six-speed 6R80 has just reached the end of the road after 21 years of production. The final unit bearing that designation was built on April 29.
To mark the occasion, it was signed by employees at the Livonia Transmission Plant.
