Tesla Abandons the Model S and X for… Robots!

Multibillionaire Elon Musk took the automotive world by surprise by announcing to Wall Street analysts that production of the once very popular Model S and Model X would be coming to an end. In their place, Tesla’s Fremont, California, plant will now focus its efforts on building the new Optimus humanoid robots.

However, Musk still hopes to unveil the Roadster next April. It would be the only non-autonomous vehicle Tesla plans to continue building. The Model S and Model X would be discontinued because their platform reportedly wasn’t designed to be adapted for fully autonomous driving.

Musk now swears exclusively by autonomous vehicles. He envisions a future in which vehicle owners and rental companies could, in turn, rent out their car, SUV, or even their pickup truck to users who need one. In other words, it would be possible to buy or lease a vehicle… and generate income with it.
