After posting losses of more than $8 billion USD last year in its electric vehicle venture, American automaker Ford has decided to join forces with French manufacturer Renault for the development and production of two small electric vehicles intended for the European market.
This collaboration is also expected to influence the development of the future platform for the small UEV (Universal Electric Vehicle) that the company’s American division plans to launch in 2027. The first model based on this new architecture is expected to be a pickup truck, with a projected U.S. price ranging between $30,000 and $35,000.
Ford sold 97,709 battery electric vehicles in Europe last year, representing a 178% increase compared to the previous year. The Explorer (European version) was its top-selling model with 45,830 units sold, followed by the Puma (shown here), which found 24,693 buyers.
