Ford EV Battery Plant Becomes SK On Tennessee

Ford EV Battery Plant Becomes SK On Tennessee

It was in 2022 that American automaker Ford and South Korean battery manufacturer SK Innovation joined forces to create BlueOval SK, a major battery manufacturer. Unfortunately, the industry's struggles in this sector are well known, and the two companies recently announced the dissolution of their joint venture.

As a result, one of the plants covered by the agreement has been taken over by SK in order to relaunch battery production. This new facility will now operate under the name SK On Tennessee, and battery production there is expected to resume as early as 2028. However, no further details have been released so far.

On the other hand, Ford has retained one of the plants, which the automaker says is intended for the production of an "affordable" pickup truck by 2028. But here again, that is all we know for now.
