Autonomous vehicles in Toronto?

autonomous-vehicles-in-toronto

It appears that the city of Toronto will soon host the first Canadian autonomous vehicles on its roads.

Indeed, the major Canadian automotive parts supplier Magna International received permission from the Ontario Ministry of Transportation to operate an autonomous vehicle pilot program. This will allow them to conduct last-mile delivery vehicle trials on the city’s streets. Each experimental vehicle will be followed by a supervision vehicle staffed with passengers ready to intervene if needed. These driverless, three-wheeled vans will deliver small parcels at a maximum speed of 32 km/h and will travel only on streets with speed limits of 40 km/h or below. Magna plans to deploy only around twenty vehicles for this initial trial.
