In the United States, the end of the US$7,500 federal tax credit for electric vehicles has led General Motors (GM) to rethink its sales approach. According to Reuters, the automaker dropped a plan to use its financing arm to pass on the credit to customers after concerns about its legality.

The change could slow GM’s EV sales in the U.S. and, in turn, impact North American production. In Canada, incentive programs such as the federal iZEV rebate of up to $5,000 remain active, but analysts expect a potential decline in model availability due to U.S. marke adjustments (Auto123).

For repair shops and service businesses, the EV transition continues — fewer new releases for now, but more opportunities in maintenance and technical training for existing electric vehicles.
