While several observers had doubts about the return of Lincoln's popular compact Corsair CUV in 2027, since the Ford Escape on which it is based is being phased out, the specialized website Ford Authority recently reported that the vehicle will indeed return for 2027.
The Louisville, Kentucky plant that assembled the Escape and Corsair is currently being retooled to build Ford's new affordable electric pickup, which helps explain the discontinuation of the Escape and, by extension, the Corsair.
That may not be the end of the story, however. According to Ford Authority, the next Corsair models would be built in China and would also receive an all-new powertrain, reportedly centred on Ford's 2.0-litre turbocharged hybrid four-cylinder engine, believed to produce 310 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque.
That is the same engine found under the hood of the Lincoln Nautilus, which is also built in China.
The Corsair would be offered exclusively with all-wheel drive.
