Tesla unveils its new Roadster... in flight!

Believe it or not, eccentric American billionaire Elon Musk has unveiled the prototype of his next electric sports coupe, currently referred to as the Roadster 2.0, to a select audience. The exotic vehicle made its debut in a spectacular presentation (reminiscent of the elaborate unveilings at the Detroit Auto Show back in the 1980s), flying over other Tesla products. More details will be revealed, but here's how the spectacle unfolded.

On Thursday, October 15, Tesla presented its next Roadster at SpaceX's testing facility in McGregor, Texas. During the demonstration, the prototype accelerated from 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) in just 0.81 seconds, according to Tesla's figures, with the assistance of compressed-gas thrusters.

But the show didn't end there! The Roadster also climbed an impressive curved ramp resembling a roller coaster before driving upside down, thanks to a powerful suction system installed beneath the vehicle. It then launched into the air, using its compressed-gas thrusters to rotate and right itself before landing safely.

In another demonstration, the prototype even performed a spectacular jump over several Tesla vehicles, as though an invisible giant child were playing with a toy car! However, these were brief airborne stunts rather than sustained flight.
