Recently, French automaker Renault assembled an electric prototype vehicle called the Filante. This long, sleek and highly aerodynamic vehicle was put to the test on a proving ground located in Morocco.

The Filante, a single-seat car, was designed solely to travel the greatest possible distance on a single charge. It managed to cover 1,000 kilometres while consuming just 7.8 kWh of energy (at an average speed of 62 km/h), which translates to an equivalent efficiency rating of 174.6 MPGe, according to U.S. calculations. The test was conducted using the same battery pack currently found in one of Renault’s popular production models in Europe.
