The highly anticipated 2026 Honda Prelude, first shown as a prototype, will soon make its North American debut. This once-popular sports coupe is set to rekindle the joy of driving for a new generation of buyers. For the automaker, it is the first model to combine Honda’s two-motor hybrid-electric powertrain with the high-performance chassis of the now-legendary Civic Type R.

This setup pairs two powerful electric motors with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder gasoline engine featuring direct injection and an Atkinson cycle, delivering both sporty driving dynamics and optimized fuel efficiency. Output is rated at 200 horsepower and 232 lb-ft of torque.

The system will be paired with the new Honda S+ Shift, offering an electrified driving experience by simulating gear changes, including virtual downshifts matched to engine speed in S+ mode. Most importantly, the system will feature enhanced engine sounds to heighten the sporty driving sensation behind the wheel.

The new Prelude is expected to arrive at Honda dealerships by the end of the year.
