GM delays its next generation of electric pickups

American automaker General Motors has just announced a delay in the development of a new generation of electric pickups, namely the GMC Sierra, GMC Hummer and Chevrolet Silverado, which had originally been expected in 2028.

The information comes from suppliers to whom GM has reportedly postponed certain orders, at least until 2030, according to their estimates. Unsurprisingly, this delay is being attributed to weak consumer interest in these vehicles. In addition, the automaker admits it is placing greater emphasis on internal combustion, gasoline-powered and hybrid powertrains.

However, production of the current lineup will continue at the Factory Zero plant in Detroit-Hamtramck, Michigan.
