According to the online publication GM Authority, Chevrolet may revive a vehicle under the Camaro name. The outlet suggests this possibility because General Motors has reportedly registered the Camaro name in… Cambodia!
The sixth generation of the Chevrolet Camaro was discontinued at the end of the 2024 model year, as interest in this type of car had significantly declined (some 2024 Camaros are still available at certain Chevrolet dealerships in North America). This “pony car” segment—popularized by the Ford Mustang—is now nearly extinct, especially since one of the Camaro’s main rivals, the Dodge Challenger, has also bowed out.
It is also worth noting that Chevrolet no longer uses the Camaro name in its NASCAR competition programs: its Cup Series entry is branded as a Chevrolet ZL1, while its Xfinity Series entry is designated as a Chevrolet SS.
However, with the renewed interest in internal combustion vehicles, the Camaro name could potentially make a comeback.
