Northvolt could revive in Quebec

northvolt-pourrait-revivre-au-quebec

The Northvolt saga continues as American start-up Lyten (affiliated with the Stellantis group through Stellantis Venture and based in San Jose, California) recently announced that it aims to acquire the Northvolt Six plant project, a roughly $7-billion complex planned for construction between Saint-Basile-le-Grand and McMasterville, Quebec. This announcement follows last week’s news that Lyten had begun talks to purchase Northvolt’s assets in Sweden and Germany, including Northvolt Ett, Ett Expansion, and Northvolt Labs (Sweden), as well as Northvolt Drei (Germany). No figures have been disclosed.

Lyten has already acquired Northvolt’s plant in Poland and taken ownership of the brand’s intellectual property and product portfolio for energy storage batteries. It is worth noting that Lyten also owns Cuberg battery plants in California, formerly part of Northvolt.
