A Third Fire at Novelis!

a-third-fire-at-novelis

Believe it or not, U.S.-based Novelis, the main supplier of recycled aluminium for automotive giant Ford and several other manufacturers operating in North America, has reported a third fire at its main plant in Oswego, New York — and this since last September.

Fortunately, this third incident — the first two having already been reported on this site — will have far less impact on the company’s operations. Novelis supplies about 40% of the recycled aluminium used by the North American automotive industry, and management expects production to return to normal as early as December. The fire, which broke out on November 20, was quickly brought under control.

Novelis has also announced the construction of a new plant in Bay Minette, Alabama, scheduled to open in the second quarter of 2026.
