For those interested in land speed records, the world’s fastest car is now the exotic Yangwang U9 Xtreme, a Chinese model from the luxury division of major automaker BYD.

The Yangwang U9 Xtreme coupe reached a top speed of 496.22 km/h (308 mph) at Germany’s ATP Automotive Testing Papenburg track last September, surpassing the previous record held by the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport. Notably, it is a fully electric car featuring a high-voltage (1,200-volt) architecture and a unique dynamic suspension that adjusts to driving conditions.

Only 30 units of this supercar will be produced.
