Toyota Launches the GR Brand

Recently, Japanese automaker Toyota unveiled what could become its very first supercar-style vehicle, the GR GT. However, this high-performance machine, powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 producing over 641 horsepower, primarily signals the launch of a new division within Toyota: Gazoo Racing, or GR. This performance-oriented brand will also include the GR Corolla, GR86, and GR Supra. The GR Yaris is also part of the lineup, although it is not marketed in North America.

At first glance, the GR GT is expected to be offered in North America through Lexus dealerships. There are also strong indications that Toyota will introduce an ultra-luxury brand under the Century nameplate. As for the GR GT, no pricing has yet been announced, but experts estimate it could exceed $350,000. It will be positioned to compete with vehicles such as the Aston Martin Vanquish, Ford Mustang GTD, McLaren 750S, and Porsche 911 GT3 RS.
