According to a recent report published in the highly reputable Automotive News, Japanese automaker Toyota will invest approximately $900 million USD in Joby Aviation, a U.S.-based company specializing in aerial mobility, founded nearly twenty years ago, which will soon begin limited air taxi operations in Dubai. Joby Aviation has also announced the launch of similar limited operations in the United States in 2027.

These taxis would be electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft capable of carrying five passengers. Eric Allison, Head of Production at Joby Aviation, has repeatedly praised Toyota for its involvement, highlighting the Japanese automaker’s expertise, know-how, and quality standards, which it says will be embedded in the young company’s DNA from the very beginning.
