Everything seems to indicate that the Smart minic car will be making a comeback in the not-too-distant future. We already have an idea of what it will look like, as a first prototype was unveiled in Beijing, China, on April 22, well ahead of its official debut scheduled for next October at the Paris Auto Show.
Still considered a design study, this minic car is expected to be marketed in Europe, once again as an electric vehicle. The new generation of Smart will ride on a platform developed by the brand itself, although Smart's designers had considered using a Mercedes or Geely platform. Up to now, the platform in use came from the Renault-Nissan alliance. As for a possible launch in North America, nothing has been revealed so far.
