Toyota ready to invest us$10 billion in the U.S.

According to WardsAuto, Japanese automaker Toyota is reportedly preparing to invest an additional US$10 billion in its U.S. operations over the next five years. This comes after the company began production at its US$13.9 billion battery plant in Liberty, North Carolina—the only facility of its kind outside Japan. No further details have been disclosed.

The Liberty plant, announced in December 2021, spans roughly seven million square feet. It is the automaker’s 11th such facility and is capable of producing approximately 30 gigawatt-hours at full capacity. The plant could employ up to 5,100 workers, which would translate into 14 production lines dedicated to hybrid and plug-in hybrid battery-electric vehicles.
