Swedish automaker Volvo is proud to announce that the one-millionth unit of one of its plug-in hybrid vehicles is now on the road. This powertrain type accounts for 23% of the company’s global sales during the first half of 2025, mainly driven by the XC60 and XC90 models.
Despite the recent decline in consumer interest in fully electric vehicles, Volvo remains committed to its ultimate goal: producing only such cars in the near future. The PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) configuration is helping the brand move toward that transition. In 2024 alone, Volvo delivered more than 177,000 units of this type.
