It’s official! The young American automaker Rivian has just broken ground on the construction of its new plant in Georgia, thanks to a significant subsidy granted in the final days of Joe Biden’s presidency.
This plant is expected to produce popular electric vehicles, including the R3 crossover SUV, as well as other more affordable models built on an all-new platform—despite the loss of federal subsidies for electric vehicle buyers.
As a result, production of its next vehicle, the R2 SUV, has been assigned to its Illinois plant. Rivian expects to deliver between 40,000 and 46,000 vehicles this year, down from the 51,579 units delivered in 2024.
