German automaker Mercedes-Benz just made major administrative changes to its North American teams. The most notable is the appointment of Jason Hoff, former head of research and development, manufacturing, sales, and marketing, as Chief Executive Officer for North America, a new role within the company, effective May 1.

He will also be responsible for the strategic direction of Mercedes-Benz in North America. He will report directly to the company’s global CEO, Ola Källenius, as well as his executive team.

Other upcoming decisions are expected to help Mercedes-Benz better face the competition, particularly from BMW and Lexus, in the highly competitive North American market.
