Volvo EX30 2025: Impressive Performance but Complicated Interface

The 2025 Volvo EX30 is a compact electric SUV designed for urban living, offering bold styling, brisk performance and smart technology. It’s Volvo’s most compact and efficient electric vehicle, known for its sustainability features and use of recycled materials. The EX30 is available in several versions, Core, Ultra and Twin Ultra, with prices ranging from $53 700 to 62 100 CAD.

However, be advised that the driver interface is almost entirely digital via a single central screen, which presents several focusing challenges while driving: you must navigate menus and submenus before accessing functions like heating and air conditioning, among others.

Key Features and Specifications:

  • Powertrain: The EX30 offers a range of powertrains, including single-motor and dual-motor options.

  • Performance: The Twin Motor Performance model produces 422 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque, delivering lively and powerful acceleration.

  • Range: Volvo estimates a range between 400 km and 420 km, but in our test early in March at around 4°C, we recorded 307 km on a full charge.

  • Charging: Volvo claims the battery can charge from 10% to 80% in approximately 26 minutes 30 seconds using a DC fast charger, depending on ambient temperature.

  • Sustainability: The EX30 uses recycled materials in its construction and is built in a factory powered by 100 % carbon-neutral electricity, according to Volvo.

  • Prix : The EX30 is offered in various versions; the entry-level Core model starts at $53 700 CAD.

Additional Notes: Volvo provides a NACS fast-charging adapter for the EX30, granting access to over 17 800 additional DC fast chargers in North America. The EX30’s small size can affect rear-seat legroom and cargo space.
