German automaker Audi has just taken the wraps off what it considers its latest supercar, the Nuvolari coupe, named in honour of legendary pre-war Grand Prix driver Tazio Nuvolari.
The new Audi Nuvolari is a limited-production supercar powered by a 987-horsepower hybrid V8, set to serve as an even more exclusive halo model than the current R8.
Technically, the mid-mounted 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 is assisted by three electric motors, which would make the Nuvolari the most powerful and fastest car Audi has ever built.
It will feature several Formula 1-inspired technologies, a carbon-fibre body and a four-wheel torque-vectoring system.
Audi plans to build only 499 units, with the car expected to go on sale as early as next year.
