Despite tariff threats from U.S. President Donald Trump, General Motors has chosen its St. Catharines, Ontario plant as one of three sites where its new V8 engine will be built.
This represents an investment of C$691 million (US$505 million) to produce the new engine. Its specifications have not yet been released, but we already know there will be a new 6.7-litre V8 for the next Corvette Grand Sport.
According to GM, new equipment is already arriving at the Canadian plant, which must nevertheless continue production of the current fifth-generation V8 while preparing for the launch of the next one.
It should also be noted that this new V8 will also be produced at the Tonawanda plant in New York State and at the Flint plant in Michigan.
