The Canadian division of auto parts manufacturer Aisin (a member of the Toyota Group) has announced an $11 million investment over the coming year to adapt its facilities for the production of panoramic roofs for the Lexus NX SUV. This investment will primarily involve new equipment that will be transferred from Japan to Aisin Canada Inc.’s plant in Stratford, Ontario.

The Government of Ontario, for its part, announced last November that it would support the project by contributing an additional $2.2 million through the newly created Ontario Together Trade Fund. It should be noted that Aisin’s Stratford plant already employs approximately 500 people, producing door frames for several Toyota and Lexus models. The addition of sunroof production is expected to create approximately 30 new jobs.
