The end of Bugatti’s W16

It’s official: the Volkswagen Group has announced the end of production for its legendary W16 engine, previously found only under the hood of Bugatti’s incredible hypercars—the most expensive models from the automaker. If you want to own such an engine, you’ll need to acquire the very last Bugatti Brouillard, based on the Mistral speedster but featuring a fixed glass roof.
Future Bugatti creations will follow the Tourbillon concept, powered by a plug-in hybrid V16 engine producing 1,775 horsepower, designed by Cosworth. For now, the Brouillard is scheduled for release in 2027 as the first model from the brand’s new Solitaire coachbuilding division, which replaces the Sur Mesure program. The Brouillard’s design was created at Bugatti’s new design centre in Berlin, Germany.
